Kansas City Chiefs report 17 injured heading into AFC championship game against Baltimore Ravens

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be in serious trouble. Halfway through its date with the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship, the team reported 17 players on the injured list, most of them from their starting teams.

The Chiefs reached the prelude to the Super Bowl for the sixth consecutive time, and any hesitation could make them lose their ticket to Las Vegas, Nevada, home of the NFL title match.

Although the team’s stars, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, appear to be fully healthy, the same cannot be said for the rest of the squad.

To the relief of head coach Andy Reid, eight of those listed players, including receivers Rashee Rice, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, had full participation in today’s practice. However, others were not so lucky.

The Kansas City’s injured list

The list of those who had limited practice this Wednesday included cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and linebacker Willie Gay Jr., with calf and neck injuries, respectively.

Among those who did not practice today was runner Isiah Pacheco, injured to his ankle and toe, receiver Skyy Moore (knee), and guards Trey Smith (illness) and Joe Thuney (pectoral).

Of the starting defense, nose tackle Derrick Nnadi (tricep) and safety Mike Edwards (concussion) did not participate in today’s practice. Backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert had limited participation due to an oblique injury.

Baltimore’s injured

The Ravens’ situation appears to be less dramatic, with the only offensive starter included on the injuries list being guard Kevin Zeitler, who received a non-injury-related rest.

Tight end Mark Andrews (ankle) had a full practice, and receiver Tylan Wallace (knee) did not participate.

Starting cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf) had limited practice, as did cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee) and linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips (shoulder), both reserves.
