Kansas City Chiefs Football, commercials and movies: Travis Kelce’s meteoric Hollywood rise

Despite being known as an NFL legend, arguably the best tight end ever, Travis Kelce has entered another dimension of fame altogether after beginning his relationship with Taylor Swift, and now he’s going to star in movies too.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive star could have his dream to be as famous as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson realized after the footballer-turned wrestler-turned actor has managed to amass a net worth of $800m.

And he’s taking the steps to make that happen. In March 2023, the 6’5″ athlete hosted Saturday Night Live after signing with Uber agency CAA, made a surprise cameo with Swift on the same show in October that year.

Now he has a successful Spotify podcast with his brother, Jason, titled New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce and he’s even working as a producer on an upcoming movie.

The movie will premier in Austin, Texas, in March and is called My Dead Friend Zoe. It will be revealed at the South by Southwest Film Festival and is a black comedy about a US Army veteran, the dead friend she cannot move on from.

How is this happening?
How? It’s thanks to clever positioning from his management team who have groomed the athlete to become world famous according to the Eanes brothers, Andre and Aaron.

“We positioned Travis to be world famous,” Andre Eanes told the New York Times last month. “We didn’t know how it would happen.

“Or when it would happen, or what would help push that further along. But it’s always been the thought in the back of our minds.”

Kelce under scrutiny
But despite his successes, which Global PR firm thinks was destined regardless of Swift entering his life, the angry outbursts he has at football games risks creating the image of him as an uncontrollable brute that is aggressive when he isn’t happy.

Notably, when he was fired up at being removed from a play in their Super Bowl contest against the San Francisco 49ers. He got into his coach’s face, an elderly man, and bumped into him almost knocking him to the floor.

It’s something he later admitted was wrong to do and took full responsibility but the same PR firm thinks it can hurt his image.

“It’s very interesting,” Mark Borkowski said to Page Six. “I think the guy was always going on to great things before he met Taylor Swift.

“He was part of a legendary team and he had a big part to play in it. He was poised to be one of those players who have a huge career both on and off the field.

“But what happened Sunday night with the coach started off this speculation that he’s this monster with anger issues.”
