Just Now Jennifer Lopez performs her new album ‘This is Me… Now’ live for the first ever time

Pop icon Jennifer Lopez is the next artist to take the stage for Apple Music Live, the live performance series that gives music’s biggest stars a platform to connect with audiences around the world as she delivered her This is Me… Now album to the world and her fans.

Fresh off the release of her ninth studio album, Lopez took to the stage at the legendary Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles in front of a sold-out crowd of fans although those wanting.

The Apple Music Live performance premieres Thursday, February 22 exclusively on Apple Music and Apple TV+ and fans will also be able to watch the Apple Music Live performance anytime on-demand on both platforms following its premiere.

During the performance, Lopez performed: This Is Me… Now, Rebound, Hearts and Flowers, and Greatest Love Story Never Told. She didn’t stop there either, singing some of her biggest hits and fan favorites including Jenny from the Block, Love Don’t Cost a Thing and If You Had My Love, among others.

The iconic JLo teamed up with Apple Music Radio to premiere her own exclusive series of two radio shows to celebrate the release of her new album This Is Me…. Now.

And one notable topic was how the 54-year-old has managed to overcome toxic relationships, pointing out that she used to be too afraid to speak-up if something bothered her and made her uncomfortable, requiring a therapist in order to learn how to do so.

And she also discussed how she has grown as a person, with her current partner Ben Affleck being a great way to cross-compare over the two decades.

Lopez and Affleck had their first fling as lovers way back in 2002 after meeting on the set of the movie Gigli, and their relationship quickly garnered significant media attention, with the press dubbing them Bennifer.

They were known for their high-profile appearances together and their engagement in November 2002, which attracted a lot of attention. However, their relationship eventually broke-up in January 2004 and Lopez set the record straight on why that had to happen.

“We didn’t break up right at that moment,” Lopez recalled of ending her engagement with Affleck 20 years ago to Zane Lowe. “It happened over the series of the next few months.”

“I knew in my heart that I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life – I knew that, but it didn’t feel like we were going to make it. And so, it scared me. It was very hard; it was a very sad moment of letting go of somebody that you truly love because you just can’t figure it out.

“You just don’t have the capacity and the ability at that moment, emotionally, to figure it out. We just weren’t mature enough in that way.”

But, in April 2021, the stuff of fairytales happened. Lopez re-united with the person she considers to be her true love during the Covid-19 pandemic, and they went public in July that same year.

It didn’t take long for their relationship to progress, and they married in July 2022, just over 20 years after they first got engaged, in Las Vegas and since then, despite media attention, all seems happy.

Lopez reflected on the difference between then and now, which is something her latest album alludes to and tells the story of, and how she and he have grown in their time apart from when they first began dating in 2002.

“Well, love allows you a bed to lie in to look at those things,” Lopez added on how different things are now. “Because I think when I was alone, all those years, and I was coming out of different relationships, I wondered why things weren’t going the way I wanted them to go because I had the best intentions with those relationships.

“So, when Ben and I got back together, he would ask aren’t you upset about some of those things that happened? I said, ‘No, I’m fine.’ It made me feel safe to look at myself in a lot of ways I hadn’t before.

“Now that I am older and have done a lot of work on myself, I am able to recognize that and say, ‘Well, yeah, I need to look at all those things.'”
