Is there an advantage for the Chiefs? Andy Reid has a perfect record against coaches like John Harbaugh in his NFL playoffs career.

No one is surprised to see the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs getting ready to do battle in the AFC Championship this weekend. The two franchises have developed a reputation for success, and much of that can be attributed to their head coaches.

John Harbaugh and Andy Reid have both spent over a decade guiding the Ravens and Chiefs, respectively, to an assortment of winning seasons and playoff appearances. So who has the edge going into their matchup on Sunday? The numbers point to Reid.

Per Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, Reid has faced off against a former assistant of his on five different occasions in the playoffs. He has won every game to this point.

It appears that the apprentice has yet to become the master when it comes to Reid squaring off against his former coworkers. Granted, three of those wins came against the same former assistant and team.

Harbaugh – who worked under Reid in Philadelphia from 1999-2007 – brings into this matchup an explosive offense led by MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson and an elite defense guided by head coach candidate Mike Macdonald. This might be the time for Reid to fall at the hands of a former student.

As if the AFC Championship game didn’t have enough great storylines already, there’s another one to keep an eye on.
