Exclusive:Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Issues Statement After Vehicle Crash in Dallas

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice released a statement in response to his alleged involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas on Saturday.

In the statement posted on Wednesday afternoon, Rice apologized to all who were impacted by the incident.

“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident,” Rice wrote. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s incident.”

The 23-year-old Rice is believed to have leased one of the luxury vehicles that was involved in Saturday’s six-car chain-reaction crash on a Dallas highway, according to The Dallas Morning News. The collision was instigated by two luxury cars speeding on the highway, one of which lost control, hit the median wall, and struck multiple vehicles. The occupants of the two luxury cars fled the scene immediately after the crash, and four people were treated for minor injuries.

Rashee is cooperating with authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly,” Rice’s attorney, Royce West, wrote in a statement on Monday.

Chiefs president Mark Donovan said the team was aware of the incident and was awaiting more information.

As of Wednesday, the Dallas Police are still investigating the incident and “have not conducted interviews with potentially involved individuals in Saturday’s crash,” spokeswoman Kristin Lowman told NPR.

The police declined to comment on Rice’s alleged involvement in the crash.

Rice, a 2023 second-round pick by the Chiefs, played college football at Southern Methodist University, which is located less than a mile from the location of Saturday’s crash. He had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie season.
