Exclusive : Travis Kelce strongly dismisses ‘COMPLETELY ABSURD’ speculation, whilst NFL enthusiasts imitate Chiefs’ standout player.

Travis Kelce the talk of the town in Las Vegas as the Kansas City Chiefs gear up for Super Bowl LVIII to face the San Francisco 49ers. But the tight end has been forced to clarify in no uncertain terms that while fans may be keen to copy his hairstyle, he didn’t start the trend and shouldn’t credit him with doing so.

The 34-year-old’s clean look, with a skin fade on the side and a longer grade on the top, has attracted Taylor Swift and thousands of fans keen to copy the Chiefs star.

A viral article even claimed that Kelce had been the pioneer for the trend because people wanted the ‘Travis Kelce’ when requesting their preferred hairstyle at the barbershop.

But Kelce, speaking to reporters on the Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night at Allegiant Stadium on Tuesday, has moved to shut down those suggestions.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” he said. “It’s a two on top and a nice high-to-mid fade with a taper in the back. I didn’t invent that. I just asked for it.”

The article – published three days before the start of Black History Month – was met with criticism from readers as it had implied Kelce was responsible for the fade. The truth is that the haircut has been around for several decades and started as a popular cut amongst black men.

Kelce clearly wasn’t happy after being associated with being the trend-setter and made it clear he didn’t “want anything to do with that”.

“And to do it on February 1,” Kelce added. “They throw me into the wolves like that. That was messed up, man. I don’t want anything to do with that one, man.”

How Travis Kelce’s hair became famous
Kelce has been going to the same barber for six years after approaching Patrick Regan, a hair stylist and influencer on social media, to shave off his locks. The pair met in South Florida while Kelce trained during the offseason and after agreeing to cut his hair, Kelce would meet Regan bright and early for a 6am cut.

“After the summer was over, he asked me if I could start coming to Kansas City every week to cut his hair before games,” he told Fox News Digital.

Since then, Regan has been traveling to Kansas City each week during the NFL season to ensure Kelce can maintain his fresh look.

“I give Travis a ‘skin fade’ or ‘bald fade’ haircut,” he said. “I cut the top usually with a #3 guard, and then I start with the shaver completely bald on the sides. Then, I gradually fade it into the top with clipper guards.”
