Emotional Travis Kelce in tears over Mecole Hardman scoring Super Bowl-winning TD.

SUPER Bowl LVIII has proven to be an emotional rollercoaster for Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Having trailed the San Francisco 49ers throughout the first half, Kelce let his emotions show when he barged into head coach Andy Reid on the sideline, screaming directly into his face.

However, the Chiefs continued to fight, and eventually got the better of San Francisco in overtime thanks to a Mecole Hardman Jr. touchdown.

Speaking after the game, Kelce’s voice began to break as he opened up on what it meant to see Hardman score the game-winner.

“I couldn’t be happier for my guy,” he told reporters.

“It brought me to tears seeing that he was the man who got us this ring, man. Sometimes the media world can be pretty harsh on a guy.”

A second-round draft pick out of Georgia in 2019, Hardman won Super Bowls LIV and LVII with the Chiefs before joining the New York Jets as a free agent this past offseason, signing a one-year deal worth $4 million.

However, his move to New York did not pay off.

After just five appearances with the Jets, during which time he tallied just one reception for six yards, he was reacquired by the Chiefs in October.

“Mecole is one of my favorite teammates ever, just because he keeps showing up and he keeps trying to find ways to win,” Kelce said.

“Had a huge play for us early on that kind of sparked us and then on top of that [he] found a way to win the game for us.

“When everyone counted him out, even the Jets counted him out, and we were so excited when he got back in the building cause he’s the kind of guy that brings everybody together, he’s got that kind of personality.”

And it seems the love goes both ways between Kelce and Hardman.

During an appearance on CBS Mornings following their latest win, Hardman credited Kelce with lighting a fire under his teammates during halftime to help get them back in the game.

“He set the fire on everybody,” he said.

“He flipped a few things over, but he definitely had a good speech to get everyone going and definitely got fuel to the fire, and we came out to the second half doing better than we did in the first half.”

Kelce finished the game with a team-leading 93 receiving yards on nine receptions.

Hardman racked up 57 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches.
