Vanessa Hudgens has responded to the chorus of fans comparing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance to High School Musical.
Taylor has been a repeated presence in the VIP box at Travis’ NFL games, sending fans to paroxysms of delight while cheering her boyfriend on.
The dynamic has inspired delirious comparisons to Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa) in High School Musical, in which he is the star basketball player and she is a bookish member of the Scholastic Decathlon team.
In particular, the social media comments zeroed in on January 7, the night Taylor had to skip Travis’ football game in order to attend the Golden Globes.
Fans compared the moment to the sequence in High School Musical where Gabriella’s academic decathlon and Troy’s game occur on the same night as the school musical audition – and now, Vanessa herself has added her voice to the mix.
Leaping into the comments of an Entertainment Tonight post about the coincidence on Instagram, Vanessa wrote simply: ‘Hilarious.’
The comparisons between the Taylor-Travis romance and High School Musical reached a fever pitch following their on-field PDA celebration on Sunday.
The singer, 34, joined her American footballer boyfriend, also 34, on the field at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore after his Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 and advanced to the Super Bowl.
Completely in awe of the couple, fans swarmed X, formerly known as Twitter to highlight the comparison.
